Balinese Herbaceous Mint
Balinese Herbaceous Mint
This tea has gone on a long journey before arriving in your cup.
Mint tea has a long and storied history, dating back thousands of years. Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece used mint for its medicinal properties. In Arab culture, mint tea is a symbol of hospitality and friendship; it is an essential part of social gatherings and ceremonies. Mint tea arrived in Asia likely through trade routes between Asia and the Arab world, when the Arab empire extended into the Indian subcontinent (7th-10th centuries).
This mint is from the Island of Bali. Grown next to cows and temples by a women collective of farmers. This mint is different than varietals you experience in Europe and North America. It is herbaceous, earthy, and has hints of spice. It tastes hearty, and the refreshing, cool taste is everlasting. A pleasurable beverage either hot or cold, and in all climates and seasons.
