This is a purple Yixing clay teapot made by young Chinese artisans using traditional teapot shapes. The ladle-shaped teapots are known as gongfu teapots and dates back to the Ming Dynasty in China (1368-1644).
Yixing clay originates from Yixing, China. Purple clay teapots are particularly sought after for brewing oolong, pu-erh, and black teas. The clay has the ability to retain heat and bring out the nuanced flavors of these teas, highly valued by tea connoisseurs. The clay’s properties come from the high concentration of iron and quartz.
The ladle teapot is designed for gongfu tea preparation, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony that involves multiple short tea infusions.
Overall this teapot will enhance the flavor, aroma, and overall tea-drinking experience.
Note: These teapots are more affordable since they are half handmade and half using molds (not factory-made). Traditional tea masters' teapots are much more expensive since they are purely handmade.
