Tides of Tea
Yixing Pear Shaped Teapot
Yixing Pear Shaped Teapot
This is a purple Yixing clay teapot made by young Chinese artisans using traditional teapot shapes. The pear shaped pot dates back to the Ming Dynasty in China (1368-1644).
Yixing clay originates from Yixing, China. Purple clay teapots are particularly sought after for brewing oolong, pu-erh, and black teas. The clay has the ability to retain heat and bring out the nuanced flavors of these teas, highly valued by tea connoisseurs. The clay’s properties come from the high concentration of iron and quartz.
Overall this teapot will enhance the flavor, aroma, and overall tea-drinking experience.
Note: These teapots are more affordable since they are half handmade and half using molds (not factory-made). Traditional tea masters' teapots are much more expensive since they are purely handmade.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Clean with hot water and baking soda before the first use. Then simply rinse with hot water after each use.
Avoid using soap, as it may damage the clay, and remove the tea patina. If necessary, use baking soda and warm water to clean the teapot.
The pot will become darker in color and shinier after using it for a while.
Since purple clay teapots are porous they will absorb the essence of tea, we recommend using different teapots for different types of tea.
